Lethal weapon

I recently asked a Swedish guy why he moved (within Shanghai). It turned out that his company had raised his house allowance from 9000RMB a month to 14000RMB. My rent is 1000RMB (800NOK+variable costs), and it has it's disadvantages. Now after a round of Rapid (insect spray) my apartment is declared bugfree though. However the rats in the "trash room" accross the yard still startle me at times.
Anyway as the Swedish guy rightly concluded, being rich in Shanghai is not required to live a happy life.

The Boss earns his respect

The boss of the gym (to the left) is indeed the boss, also when it
comes to handback. Nobody is messing with the boss,.. except for

Time to make amends

My new coach (and friend - Mike) in the gym. Now it's time to get back
into shape, and by Christmas I want to surpass my level from when I
arrived in February. Infrequent training, the hot summer, and lack of
"a routine" made me weak. Besides I'm broadening my vocabulary. In the
picture Mike is "spotting", and to do it right he is "squatting".

Healthy life

Healthy and easy. Tunafish in olive oil and crispbread gives plenty of
fibers, healthy fats, proteins and creatine. 新生活简单，又健康。

Same same, but different

My favourite food, the Knock out pie from Peppes Pizza was a real treat. It would however unlikely knock out anyone since it was not as spicy at all, and after all Chinese people accustomed to spicy food. Apart from that it was very good and genuine.

More worringly the sour cream sauce was not white! and tasted a little like Thousand Island? However it was perfect at the opening party, so I hope this was merely a small inconsistancy.

Jane gone to Australia

Jane left for studies in Australia, at Bond University, Gold Coast. I’m proud and happy on her behalf. She left without shedding a tear (but the rain poured down), and seemingly light at heart (but her luggage was more than 50 kilo).

Kunshan international beer festival

As beer lover, this event did not live up to my expectations. The place was in the middle of no where, the selection of beer very limited, and the prices as high as anywhere else. However that did not stop me and Jane along with Pål and Yane to have a very good time (beer does the trick regardless). Picture: ”women going to the loo.”

F1 "Carneval"

When I was first invited I thought this was either a F1 race, or a carnival. However it was neither, but rather a (temporary) amusement park. Good things were good company (Wang He) and his classmates at the picture. Besides there were no long waiting lines, good weather and good music. Weak points were “many.” The park reminds me about the traveling Tivoli that used to visit my 25.000 people home town 15 years ago, by now we’ve moved on and have great permanent park “Hunderfossen.” When is 17 million Shanghai going to invest?

F1嘉年华

我当初被邀请的时候，我还以为这是一个F1比赛或是一个我印象中的嘉年华活动（比如不限量喝啤酒之类的东东）。但是我都猜错了，这不过 是一个游乐场，还是临时的。不过好在有一个好伙伴（王鹤）和他的同学在场陪我。除此之外，没有冗长的排队，却有着不错的天气和劲爆的 音乐。缺点其实也有不少。这个公园让我想起了15年前我去”Tivoli”旅游时途经我那两万五千人口的老家时的事，而现在我们已经大大进步了，当年的 小游乐场变成了今日的永久大公园“Huderfossen”。什么时候这个有一千七百万人口的上海能进行这样的投资？（改正了）

Peppes Pizza opens in China!

After one year of preparations, the Norwegian Pizza Chain Peppes opened it's first restaurant in China, soon to be followed by 2 more at first. Ørjan Fredriksen Chief Operating Officer of Peppes Pizza International, has done a fantastic job in transferring the warm atmosphere, cozy interior (trolls greeting at the entrance, skis on the wall and even a moose horn chandelier), and not to forget the authentic Peppes Pizza taste, including their wonderful Sour Cream.
Thanks for a wonderful opening evening, where everything was on the house.

As a former employee I give my best wishes for the operation, and I'm confident it will be a success. Pizza Hut is already immensely popular with guest lining up outside the doors of their restaurants, and since Peppes deliver a superior product I foresee a great future, not only popular among expats, but Chinese as well.
